What treatment is there for hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating?
Hyperhidrosis, in particular from the palms of the hands and armpits, can have a significant impact on your personal and social life.
But by injecting botulinum protein into the areas affected, sweating can be significantly reduced and even entirely blocked for several months.
Before treatment
Over-the-counter anticoagulants, anti-inflammatories and aspirin should be avoided for 3 days before treatment in order to prevent bruising.
During treatment
These injections are more painful than those for the face, in particular those for the palms of the hands. For this reason, patients are asked to arrive 30 minutes before treatment so that local anaesthetic can be provided to minimise the pain.
After treatment
This non-surgical treatment does not require any down time. You can resume your normal activities immediately.
You may develop small bruises or redness. Your doctor will be available to answer any questions you may have.
